How to use the PHP to USD converter

  1. Type an amount in Philippine pesos or US dollars.
  2. The converter loads a recent mid-market rate in your browser. If the live rate cannot load, enter the rate from your bank or remittance app manually.
  3. Switch direction to convert USD → PHP, for example to check a freelance payout or OFW remittance.

Formula

USD = PHP ÷ rate · PHP = USD × rate
rate = pesos per 1 US dollar

If the rate is ₱58.00 per dollar, ₱10,000 = $172.41, and $500 = ₱29,000.

Mid-market rate vs the rate you actually get

The rate shown here is a reference (mid-market) rate — the midpoint between buying and selling prices on global markets. Banks, money changers, PayPal, GCash, Maya, Wise and remittance centers apply a spread on top, and some add fixed fees. For example, if the mid-market rate is ₱58.00, PayPal may convert your dollars at around ₱55–56, which means a $1,000 payout can be worth ₱2,000–₱3,000 less than the reference amount. Before converting a large amount, compare the final peso amount quoted by two or three providers, not just the advertised rate.

Who uses this converter

  • Freelancers and virtual assistants paid in dollars through Upwork, PayPal, Payoneer or Wise.
  • OFW families estimating how much a dollar remittance will be worth in pesos.
  • Online shoppers buying from US stores or paying for subscriptions in USD (remember that digital services now include 12% VAT — see the VAT calculator).
  • Travelers budgeting a trip and comparing money-changer rates.

Peso examples

  • A VA earning $6/hour × 160 hours = $960 per month → at ₱58 ≈ ₱55,680 before fees and tax.
  • A $19.99 software subscription → about ₱1,159 at ₱58.
  • A ₱50,000 tuition payment abroad → about $862.

Freelance income converted to pesos is still taxable in the Philippines. Estimate it with our guide on 8% vs graduated tax for freelancers.

What moves the peso-dollar rate?

The PHP/USD rate is driven by BSP and US Federal Reserve interest rates, inflation, the trade balance, OFW remittances (which usually strengthen the peso before Christmas), and foreign investment flows. The BSP publishes a daily reference rate that banks use for official transactions.

Converting freelance income: a practical checklist

If you are paid in dollars, compare withdrawal options every few months, because fees and spreads change. Note the platform fee (for example Upwork's service fee), the withdrawal or transfer fee, and the exchange rate applied. Then compute the final pesos you receive per $100 and choose the option with the highest number. Many Filipino freelancers hold dollars in a USD account and convert when the peso is weaker, but timing the market is risky — for regular living expenses, converting on a fixed schedule is simpler. Keep monthly records of dollar income and the peso amount received; you will need them for BIR filing and for loan applications that ask for proof of income.

FAQ

How does this PHP to USD converter work?+

Enter an amount in PHP or USD and a PHP-per-USD rate. We convert both ways instantly in your browser.

Where does the exchange rate come from?+

We try a public rate API from your browser. If it fails (network, CORS, or downtime), enter a rate manually — for example from your bank, remittance app, or Google.

Is this a live trading or bank cash rate?+

No. It is a convenience mid-market style estimate and may differ from remittance, GCash, or bank cash/sell rates in the Philippines.

Can OFWs use this for peso conversion?+

Yes for rough planning. For actual remittances, always check your provider’s buy/sell spread and fees.
